How to check and change the WSUS Port

Windows Update can be configured to run on different ports to the default configuration.  This is sometimes used if WSUS is installed on a server that is already listening on the default ports or maybe you require the traffic to be shaped.

Configuration steps:

  1. Log into the server hosting WSUS
  2. Open IIS Manager
  3. Right click on the site that is running WSUS (usually the default site) and select ‘Edit Binding’
  4. WSUSCheck the port number and select ‘Edit’
  5. WSUS2Change the Ports for HTTP (TCP) & HTTPS (SSL) to your desired port
  6. WSUS3Click ‘OK’ to accept changes, restart IIS Admin service. And you’re all sorted.

Welcome to CloudMesh

Welcome to my first Post on CloudMesh

Hi I’m Jason WhitakerJason Whitaker

I am an IT pro with around 15+ years experience in the industry primarily focuses on the Microsoft and surrounding technologies

I love bleeding edge technology and have the cuts to prove it  🙂

Although I do believe that without a purpose technology is just a toy and not fit for business.  I have built a career and reputation on designing, delivering and supporting enterprise class technologies that fit the customers’ expectations and requirements and hopefully some of my posts and experience will be of help to you in your daily to day roles.

This is my little space on the net.
Hopefully I keep this updated and fresh.
